The #10 single in the Detroit cover series. Michigan's Jeremy Porter and the Tucos take on turn of the century Detroit power poppers The Waxwings with their cover of "While You Spiral"! On the "A" side is the upbeat powerpop "Five-Foot-Three and Tiger Eyes", a little ditty about a girl named Nancy.
The tracks were produced by Tucos’ drummer Gabriel Doman, artwork was done by John Johnson (Cheap Trick’s Rockford), and Tim Patalan (The Fags, Sponge) was once again at the helm for basic track engineering and mixing at The Loft in Saline, MI.
Jeremy Porter and The Tucos have been at it since 2010, flying the Michigan flag while playing the dive-bar circuit, clubs, theatres, and festivals across the US, Canada, and the UK. They’ve got four albums under their belts, and this is their seventh 7” vinyl single.
They’ve been compared to your favorite bands – The Replacements, The Plimsouls, Cheap Trick, Uncle Tupelo, X – but their sound is
very much their own. The Detroit Covers Series by I94 Recordings is a perfect fit!
Says Jeremy Porter about the single:
“It just sort of came as a result of diving deep obsessively into Nancy’s catalog

have; sparse - but full and warm, with the focus on the story, the vocal, and the hooks.”
The B-side, a cover of Detroit’s The Waxwings’ “While You Spiral”, took a slightly
“We tried a few songs by various Detroit bands before settling on The Waxwings.
Gabriel brought the song in and it was quickly deemed the one. We wanted to honor
their version, which rules, but put our own spin on it with a lil’ extra piss and vinegar.
Having Jake Riley in the band (bass guitar and vocals since November, 2021) allowed
us to take the harmonies to the next level. We love playing it live!”
